Christmas Carolers,
Look forward to emails from our Mistress of Dialect, Elaine Edstrom, and another blog post from our Madame of Music, Meredith Mearns.
CRACHIT FAMILY GENERAL NOTES: You're a family, so let's ACT like one!(See what I did there? ;) )
- This family is POOR. So poor you do not get presents. This Christmas feast is your present!!
- Previous note in mind, how hungry are you in this scene? You need to taste the food when you talk about it.
- This is a very verbal group, and although we do want to hear your lines, please have an immediacy to your delivery; we don't want any pauses/lag time.
- Let's try to be off book/memorized by Thursday, your next rehearsal, so that we can really get the 'chaos' part on point. It was already sounding great, and like a family.
SPECIFIC CHARACTER/ACTOR NOTES:
Mrs. Crachit:
- P.57, Your speech should not come from a place of anger, but from a place of passion. Your husband is a good man, and you think he's being pushed over. You're trying to instill power in Bob!
Bob Crachit:
- Remember your posture!
Belinda:
-Your energy of an older/calmer soul within the scene brings dimension to the group. Keep that energy!
Martha:
- Keep your heightened and youthful voice. It gives a destinct a seperation from what you will be doing with Christmas Past.
Peter:
-Your delivery is fluid, and your continued focus in looking for your family through the door is great! - Go ahead and memorize Mary's lines in case they are needed, but do not deliver them unless asked.
Mary:
- Go over lines at a higher pitch, and know when you should come in.
- Your energy when you're jumping and delivering lines is great.
Alice:
- Practice your British accent, and apply it to your lines so that you get used to the feeling.
- We enjoy your energy when revealing the goose! Keep that kind of attention when within the scene/engaging with others.
Tiny Tim:
- Keep in mind that you are in pain, but still going. Act weaker than you are (ie. walking, standing, lots of moving makes you breathless. Your hip is in a constant state of slipping out of socket, and it ALWAYS HURTS.)
